Wheels, heads and the wider world
Mobile bases, desktop robots that talk, and how to show your work so it counts.
By now you can teleoperate, record, train, and walk. This module widens the field, then sends you off to build something that's yours.
Do this
- LeKiwi (SIGRobotics UIUC) and the LeRobot LeKiwi docs. A mobile base with the SO-101 on top. Same software you know, now with wheels.
- Reachy Mini documentation (Pollen Robotics). A desktop robot with a camera, microphones and a speaker. The place to connect what you learned in module 05 to language models and voice.
- Self-Driving Cars with Duckietown (ETH Zürich, edX; free to audit). The best structured course on autonomous driving at small scale, if wheels are your thing.
- Robotic Manipulation, the rest. Chapters 5 onwards: grasping, planning, perception. You're ready for them now.
Build
Pick one project that takes six weeks and finish it. Announce it in Discord with a date. Show it at demo night. Write it up with a video, a repository and what you'd do differently. That write-up is worth more than any certificate, and it's what the Guild's hackathon team recruits from.
And then
Help the next person through module 01. Suggest a learning resource that's better than one that's here. Vote on robot five.
Done when: you've shipped something you'd put your name on, and you've helped someone else ship theirs.
